Lagrange County

LaGrange County was formally organized on April 1, 1832. The first county seat was located at the site of the old Indian village of Mogoquinog, which later became Lima. The county was named after the residence of General Lafayette in France. The population of LaGrange County was 3,664 in 1849 and was counted at 34,909 in the 2000 census. The county covers twenty-four miles from east to west and sixteen and a half miles from north to south. The land area of the county is 396 square miles.
