NIHPI has been a State of Indiana Certified Housing Development Organization (CHDO) since 2008. Most of its grant funding is through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.
Transportation Planning
The Rural Planning Organization (RPO) designation from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is a recent move by these agencies towards recognizing and addressing rural transportation planning needs on the local and regional levels.
