Blight Clearance Program

The Blight Clearance Program was developed to benefit communities with blighted properties, encouraging removal and redevelopment of the space. Areas including deteriorated or abandoned downtown buildings or vacant/unusable industrial sites may be eligible for funding by OCRA.

The program is relatively new, as a component of the 2018 Annual Action Plan that was accepted by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

OCRA has funds available to pay for demolition of buildings that towns want to get rid of. We write and submit applications to help get these projects funded. Applications are due every month, so property owners and communities have the opportunity to move forward with planning any time of the year.
